Additions and renovations to Joliet Junior College’s Natural Sciences Building expand science program, modernize campus, and support sustainable initiatives
A 37,000-square-foot expansion houses mostly labs, while 23,000 square feet in renovations enlarge some labs and convert others to classrooms and offices. The project more than doubles the size of the facility and allows Joliet Junior College to offer more courses.
The addition creates a welcoming gateway and opens views into and out of the building. Cantilevered anatomy and physiology labs shade the two-story student life space. Stucco cladding on the east and west sides of the addition complements existing buildings. Infrastructure improvements include new ductwork, new lighting, power/data improvements, and plumbing upgrades. Renovations include new flooring, ceilings, casework, and equipment.
