Election of new officers signals next chapter at Legat Architects
The Board of Directors at Legat Architects has elected a new leadership team that will continue to support our broad design vision to create a more just, sustainable, and equitable built environment. The following officers, who are also principals, will be responsible for the management and operations of the firm, as well as charting the course into the next decade.
Berry DeSimone, formerly Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, takes on the role of President and Chief Executive Officer. DeSimone joined Legat in 1992 and has more than four decades of experience in the architecture and construction industries.
“During his nearly 30 years with Legat, Berry has demonstrated stability, sincerity, and financial savviness within a variety of leadership positions,” said Jeffrey Sronkoski, Board Chairperson. “He has also helped create a strong chemistry among our teams.”
Jeff Sandberg, AIA steps into the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Sandberg has been with Legat since 2000 and has passionately led the growth of our Quad Cities studio since he launched it in 2012.
Susan Jahn, who remains as Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer, spent 15 years in the public accounting industry before she joined Legat in 2009. She has played a key role in managing our finances and enhancing our operational efficiency.
Michael Lundeen, AIA, who remains as Secretary, will also continue in his role of Associate Director of Higher Education. Lundeen has led some of our largest and most complex projects. The first week of January marked his 30th anniversary with Legat.
Sronkoski said, “The Board of Directors selected this team of officers because of their experience and fortitude to pave the way for our next generation of leaders, advance the role of design in our communities, and support each of our employees.”
Patrick Brosnan, AIA steps down from his role as President and CEO after leading the firm for 15 years. During his 34-year career at Legat, he has successfully served Legat in multiple management and leadership roles. In his new role as Senior Vice President for Firm Development and Risk Management, Brosnan will focus on firm growth and advise on legal matters. He continues to serve on Legat’s Board of Directors, helping to transition the firm into its next chapter of leadership and growth.
“Patrick’s accomplishments and contributions are extensive and invaluable to the firm,” said Sronkoski. “The Board truly appreciates his strong leadership over the past 15 years and his continued involvement in our future success.”
