Eight-story hotel with raised lobby, rooftop bar, and locally created artwork captures Wicker Park/Bucktown – Chicago vibe.
[May 21, 2020] – Construction has finished at Hyatt Place Chicago – Wicker Park, a 99-room hotel in Chicago’s lively Wicker Park neighborhood.
The eight-story hotel, located at the southeast corner of Ashland and North avenues, features a seventh-floor lobby and a rooftop bar called The Kennedy Rooftop, as it is situated right off the Kennedy Expressway. Both will have stunning views of the Chicago skyline. The Kennedy
Rooftop boasts spacious seating and exciting patio activities.
Nediya Group created the initial hotel design with Ron Vari Sr., from Vari Architects Ltd. From there, Chicago-based Legat Architects added its extensive expertise to create the ideal design of the 96,000-square-foot Hyatt Place Chicago – Wicker Park. Genuine Hospitality, LLC will operate the hotel and Nick Psyhogios and his company Exemplary Builders, Inc. oversaw construction.
Hyatt Place Chicago – Wicker Park offers on-site parking. The lobby is uniquely placed on the
seventh floor and shared with the terrace that includes The Kennedy Rooftop bar.
The Kennedy Rooftop arrives amidst the era of experience. In addition to offering the perfect
pictures of the Chicago skyline, the terrace will include amusing games, mounted TVs to watch the big game, and plenty more. Of course, there will also be rooftop favorites like creative cocktails, firepits, and outdoor heating to keep the fun going well past the summer.
April Maifield, director of hospitality at Legat, said, “What drew us to this project was the owner and Hyatt’s idea of the elevated lobby and terrace, as well as the hard-to-come-by views to the city skyline bordered by the former John Hancock Center and the Willis Tower.”
Maifield and team angled the lobby’s floor-to-ceiling glass so that when the elevator doors open, guests will see the terrace and the skyline beyond.
Interior design firm Sheedy/DeLaRosa Interiors drew inspiration from Wicker Park’s strong artistic roots. For instance, the lobby features artwork created by local artists.
The hotel is set to open June 2nd and The Kennedy Rooftop bar will open with compliance to the State of Illinois and City of Chicago.
